Scotty Meades is an experienced specialty coffee educator, international trainer, and consultant who has spent decades equipping people and developing sustainable initiatives across cultures. He is the founder of Adventure Coffee Co., a coffee education and consulting organization established in 2017 to provide professional training, practical business guidance, and industry-standard coffee education.
Scotty's work combines technical excellence in specialty coffee with a strong commitment to developing people and creating sustainable economic opportunities. He has trained coffee professionals, local leaders, entrepreneurs, and students in multiple countries — teaching not only coffee theory, but also how professional coffee businesses operate.
Scotty received advanced coffee education and instructor development training at Torch Coffee Lab in 2016. In 2017, he worked with Social Grounds Coffee in Jacksonville, Florida, gaining practical experience in wholesale roasting, café operations, and production management. This combination of technical and operational experience underpins everything he teaches today.
Now based in Albania with his wife Heather, Scotty is establishing a dedicated training and consulting centre — serving students and businesses across Europe, the Balkans, and beyond.
Scotty's coffee education work grew out of decades of living and working across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe — giving him a practical understanding of how coffee can create economic opportunity in diverse contexts.
Started working internationally, leading outreaches and training programmes across cultures.
Lived and worked in New Delhi, focusing on community development, leadership training, and local capacity-building.
Pioneered development work in Northern Cyprus, building relationships with local communities.
Relocated to Thailand, where coffee education and professional training became an increasing focus — recognizing coffee as a practical tool for economic development.
Received advanced coffee education and instructor development training, establishing the technical foundation for Adventure Coffee Co.
Established Adventure Coffee Co. to provide professional SCA training and business consulting. Also gained practical experience at Social Grounds Coffee in Jacksonville, Florida.
Developed coffee education programmes connected to the University of the Nations' Center for Economic Development, bringing SCA-standard training to communities across Europe and beyond.
Scotty and Heather are establishing Adventure Coffee Co. as a recognized training and consulting centre in Albania, serving Europe, the Balkans, and the wider region.
A significant part of Scotty's work has involved bringing professional coffee education to communities that would not otherwise have access to internationally recognized training. Through the YWAM Global Coffee Initiative — connected with the University of the Nations' Center for Economic Development — Scotty has developed coffee schools and seminars based on SCA standards across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
